What an evening in Ljubljana! Mixed martial arts fans have awaited the next edition of the Fight Nation Championship for four months. Still, the event at Stožice Arena, organized by the leading MMA promotion in South-Eastern Europe, has exceeded all expectations. The miraculous Miran ‘Slo Rocky’ Fabjan (38, 4-2) knocked out Mario Žgela (27, 7-3) after just 47 seconds of the first round in front of his home crowd and immediately after the fight challenged Darko Stošić (32, 20-6), who agreed to fight.
The premiere of the FNC gloveless cage boxing was spectacular. The fans in the full stands of Stožensko watched five rounds of a real war, with both fighters “throwing bombs”, but in the end the referees’ decision went to Ljubljana’s Uroš Jurišić (31, 2-0), while Joelson Nascimento (26, 0-1) deserved all the praise he could get for his performance. The hot atmosphere in Stožice was further fuelled by local hero and fan favorite Bojan ‘Želva’ Kosednar (40, 13-15), who beat Aleksandar Janković (29, 16-13-1) with a technical knockout.
The FNC Featherweight Champion defended his title for the first time. In perhaps the most competitive fight of the night, Jordan ‘Lord’ Barton (31, 9-3-1) won by first-round knockout against challenger Itay Tratner (23, 9-6-1).
