UMAG TROPHY: The Ultimate Stage for Joyful Moments and Lasting Memories
Today, the Umag Trophy is considered the largest and highest-quality tournament for young soccer players in the region and one of the largest in Europe. However, the high number of participants is simply a result of the tradition, organization, and innovation that have been the cornerstones of the Umag Trophy soccer tournaments for more than a decade.
It all began with just two age categories playing at a single venue—the pitch in Katoro—which remains to this day a symbolic and cherished part of the authentic Umag Trophy experience for every participant.
Following its inaugural tournament in 2016, Umag Trophy has grown steadily and organically, expanding with careful planning and a clear vision. As international interest grew, teams like Crvena Zvezda, Inter, and Benfica joined early participants such as MTK Budapest, turning the tournament into a true celebration of youth football in Istria.
The local community also quickly recognized the tournament’s potential. The Tourist Board of Umag has supported the project since its third edition, as Umag Trophy—organized by B4 Sport Camps—has evolved beyond the boundaries of sport. Today, players, coaches, club representatives, parents, and fans—up to 20,000 people per edition—enjoy a rich accompanying program, including an opening ceremony at the Goran Ivanišević ATP Stadium, children’s entertainment, live music evenings, and a grand closing celebration.
Despite its rapid growth and the participation of giants from Italy (Juventus, AC Milan, Inter, Hellas Verona, Udinese, Parma), Spain (Barcelona), England (Arsenal), Portugal (Benfica), Serbia (Crvena Zvezda, Partizan), and Austria (Red Bull Salzburg), Umag Trophy remains a tournament for everyone. Our core mission is unchanged: to provide young Slovenian footballers with the chance to compete against the world’s top clubs right in their own backyard—an opportunity to test their skills against peers from across the globe.
And so we continue to build, to invest, and to improve. Because every moment of effort is rewarded in the most meaningful way—through thousands of children’s smiles on and off the fields of Umag.
The 10th anniversary edition in 2025 delivered five weeks of top-level football, shattering records in team participation, number of matches, content of the side program, and overall reach and recognition.
The tournament marked the start of the new decade with yet another record-breaking edition. In 2026, five tournament events held between March and April in Umag attracted more than 500 teams from 15 European countries, resulting in the highest number of participants and matches played in the tournament’s history. The Umag Trophy thus enters the new decade on a solid foundation of tradition, with a clear vision for further growth and a desire to continue providing young soccer players with a top-notch international soccer experience.
